چکیده

Mobile IP protocols allow a mobile host to send and receive packets addressed with its home IP address, regardless of the IP address of its current point of attachment in the Internet. Four routing schemes, home, optimal, hierarchical and pointer forwarding approaches are discussed with regard to the handoffs. In the existing methods packets are delayed and lost during the change of the care-of-address from an old foreign agent to a new agent. To handle the packet loss and delay problem we propose a double tunneling method in which received packets at an agent are copied and sent to both the old and new foreign agents. The method is backed up by the predicted handoffs. Computational results show that the double tunneling method outperforms existing handoff procedure in view of lost and delayed packets.

A QoS Improvement for Mobile Network in Large Vehicles

In large vehicles such as a train, passengers can access Internet through an in-vehicle mobile router to effectively reduce the cost and overhead of roaming to a new network. While we apply the idea of mobile network into large vehicles, the critical issue is how to build up seamless Internet access services between vehicle’s mobile network and fixed networks along the moving path or stations. ...

DiffServ QoS Provisioning for Real Time Traffic in Frequent Handoff MobileIPv6 Networks

The next-generation mobile networks are evolving towards a versatile IP-based network that can provide various real-time multimedia services to mobile users. Two major challenges in establishing such a wireless mobile Internet are support of fast handoff and provision of quality of service (QoS) over IP-based wireless access networks. In this article, DiffServ resource allocation architecture i...

Low latency IP mobility management: protocol and analysis

Mobile IP is one of the dominating protocols that enable a mobile node to remain reachable while moving around in the Internet. However, it suffers from long handoff latency and route inefficiency. In this article, we present a novel distributed mobility management architecture, ADA (Asymmetric Double-Agents), which introduces double mobility agents to serve one end-to-end communication. One mo...
